For singles and teams

The Mountainman is a one-day-race for extrem and endurance sports people whom are strong enough to run on single trails around the BergArena of Unterwalden. The unique route starts at the Mt. Pilatus – station Ämsigen – and passes on its length of 81 kilometers and 4925 meters of ascent deep blue mountain lakes, wild rock faces and breath-taking views into the high peaks of the Berner Alpen and the beautiful valleys beneath before it ends at the Mt. Titlis in Trübsee. Along with the Mountainman there will be held the Quad Version Mountainman 4x4, the Duad Version Mountainman 2x2 on the same route and on "half" the distance from Brünig Pass the Mountainman light and the Duad Version Mountainman light 2x2.

The Mountainman of records

Along the route you will pass by several highlights: The Mountainman Trail is the longest Trail Running route of Switzerland: 81 km ! 4925 m of Ascent ! The steepest cogwheel railway in the world will bring you to the start: the Pilatus-Bahn ! 30 km of the route are located in the biggest moorlands of Switzerland: the Glaubenberg !

The trail

The Mountainman trail is a race near perfection: with very few exceptions the route is kept on solid single trails, to both sides of the trail you will enjoy the most astonishing views into the Alps and down into the valleys beneath. The start will be on a height of 1400 m in Ämsigen beneath Mt. Pilatus. The first 5 Kilometers are kept on a forest road. After that "Vorspiel" the field of runners should be spread wide enough to change to single trails. Here you enter the moorlands of the Glaubenberg. Via Langis, Sattelpass, Glaubenbielen Pass you get high up to Lungern-Schönbüel. Followed by the longest descent to Brünig Pass. From the Gibel you enter the Kanton of Bern for a short distance to pass the Hasliberg with the Alpentower. From now you can see the glacier of Mt. Titlis ahead. The blue mountain lakes Melchsee, Tannensee, Engstlensee and finally Trübsee as well as the high mountain peaks to the south will make you fly to the finishing line in Trübsee.
